Wrong Turn

So we were at it again, off to find something to do on a Saturday afternoon. Of course we hooked up with our favorite action adventure team the Wynn's. They are always game for a little off roading. Bennett briefly looked up online and found a hike near Lake Mead that went through some slot canyons and up and around an old railroad with some mines you can actually go in...well enter at your own risk. (So of course that means go in them... with your spouse.... and your kids...? ) That's part of the adventure right? :) Well we packed a lunch and started driving, and driving, and driving, and all we really saw was desert. We started taking different dirt roads in every direction searching for this canyon. Well we finally got out and went on a different hike up to a little cave we saw along the way to let the kids get some energy out. It was fun and the weather was fantastic. Ashden had a great time and is such a good little hiker. He seems to think he is such a manly man because he wouldn't go on the hike with out his tool box. We told him over and over that if he brought it he would have to carry it the whole way. He did good on the way up but in the end it just caused all sorts of grief for everyone! Anyways Bennett was still frusterated about not finding the canyon so as it was getting dark we tried going up a road on a different turn out. Sure enough there it was. We turned off the road too early. So we hiked down a little bit with our flashlights and it was pretty amazing. We will have to save that hike for next time.

The action was just starting

This is what happens when we drive on a dirt road

Mayce holding on for her life

We made it to the top. It was pretty steep up to this cave. The cave was much smaller up close

Ashden and Bennett hiking down... notice no tool box. It got put in Bennetts back pack

Ashden and his tools

The desert can be very beautiful

I love that you are enjoying the weather. I think the first few weeks of spring are my favorite time of the year, because any sun is amazing. We are still waiting for those times. I wish kyle was a little more outgoing like Bennett. Kyle ALWAYS has a project that he can't get away from for three hours. Today we were going to go snowshoeing with some friends. Kyle dogged out on them because he is framing the basement and couldn't think about getting away for a minute. Kudos to your man who is not obsessed with work projects. Macye is getting big and her eyes are so blue, what a doll. Have a great week and give me a call.

love the driving photo...looks like Ashden was having a ball.

we wish you lived closer so we could join your adventures (we would definitely invite ourselves--you have so much fun)!

i'm amazed at how adventurous you are with two small kids...you'll have to teach me how you do it.

I hope you guys actually made it to the right place today. Becka, you seriously can't complain about one rainy day, when every other day looks like this. Do you know what we've been dealing with in Logan??? I'm SOOO sick of winter.

Ashden's little toolbox makes me laugh. He's such a manly man, I'm sure our boys will be the same way, stopping to drill and hammer on every rock. The picture of Mayce is about the cutest thing going. I can't wait to see her in April. It was good to talk to you last night, thanks for calling.
